Everything we do is focused on
your child’s well-being

Welcome to Learning Avenues! Our common interest is the healthy development of your child. We provide effective after school programs, childcare and daycare Vancouver Wa.

We support children’s natural love of learning and build upon the cognitive skills that are introduced through play activities. Activities vary from the simple to the complex in order to provide both success and challenge.

We believe that children learn by doing, through play and that every child is their own individual. Through a variety of activities we’re able to meet the varying needs of individual children.

We believe that our primary task is to enhance, support, and strengthen a child’s self-esteem while providing a safe and healthy environment, resulting in a sense of security.

Learning Avenues believes that great child care is a partnership between families and care givers with the common goal being the healthy development of your child.

We believe that children learn by doing—through play. We provide a safe and healthy environment in which children can learn. We help children develop personal self-control, independence, and the ability to make choices. New experiences are implemented into our curriculum to develop creativity and awareness of the environment, arts and cultures. Specially selected activities develop social, emotional, physical and intellectual skills.

School Age

We provide a positive learning environment with warm, caring staff. Providing a variety of activities such as after school programs Vancouver Wa, helps children develop responsibility, build self-esteem and enjoy the time they spend in our care. Children have the opportunity to go outdoors for play, project time, dedicated time to do homework, free choice indoors, participate in group games inside the gym, and build friendships.

Who can enroll at Learning Avenues?

Children ages 2 ½ (and potty-trained) to 12 years old are eligible for enrollment. Learning Avenues Child Care Centers does not discriminate against children of families because of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, creed, marital status, sexual orientation, age, or handicaps.

What if I don’t need care during the summer?

Families who enroll children for the school year, but drop them from care during the summer must re-enroll in the fall, pay a registration fee if gone longer than three months, and are re-considered on the first come/ first served basis. Prior enrollment does not guarantee placement.

Can I enroll part-time?

Full-time (preschool and summertime for school age) children are accepted primarily on a priority basis unless enrollment is low or a child can be “matched” with another child to share a childcare slot. Part-time and drop-in care will be determined by this; priority always goes to full-time slots. If part-time care is unable to be “matched”, parent may be asked to utilize full-time care or seek other child care.

What elementary schools do you serve?

School age children enrolled in elementary schools served by Learning Avenues Child Care Centers have first priority at their respective sites when space is available. Currently we serve George C. Marshall, Martin Luther King, and Harney elementary schools.

When is enrollment paperwork due?

All forms in the Enrollment Packet must be completed and turned into the office one business day prior to your child attending. Financial arrangements must also be completed before your child’s first day of care.

Do you take DSHS subsidy?

Yes, call for our provider number. DSHS approval must be received before first day of attendance.

How will I know how much to pay for child care?

Learning Avenues offers a Sliding Fee Scale for families in which the parents are working and/or going to school. Your cost is based on your household monthly gross income.  Families are encouraged and helped to seek alternative sources of childcare funding. A family eligible for DSHS is not eligible to utilize the sliding fee scale.  Monthly Tuition is based on a sliding fee scale (see Sliding Fee Scale or call for a quote). It is due by the 10th of each month.  Additional charges include: School Age Non-School Day Rate (all levels): $10 per day additional. School Age Late Start or Early Release (all levels): $5 per day additional.

Do you have ECEAP or Head Start classrooms?

Yes! Thirty-six childcare slots are reserved for children in the Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP). Eligible children must be 3 or 4 by August 31st and fall below the federal poverty guideline. Acceptance into this program must be approved by Educational Opportunities for Children and Families (EOCF).

Twelve childcare slots are reserved for Full Day Full Year Head Start. Acceptance into this program must be approved by Educational Opportunities for Children and Families (EOCF).

What is your registration fee?

Registration Fee: $50 per child (one-time fee if not out of the center for more than 3 months).

Is there a charge for late pick-up?

Yes! Late Pick-Up Fee: $15 for the first 15 minutes after 6:00pm, then $5.00 for every 5 minutes required after 6:15pm.  Fee must be paid before child can return to care.

Do you give credit for missed days if my child is sick or on vacation?

Families are responsible for full month payments. In order to provide adequate staffing and overhead, we cannot offer credit for days missed. School-aged children are billed full day rates on snow days, in-service days, school holidays, and school vacation days. These days are added onto the basic monthly fee and the “no credit for days missed” policy does apply.

I want to enroll…what should I do?

Call to set up an appointment to visit the program.  If no space is available in the appropriate class, your name will be kept on a waiting list until a space is available.

Visit the program with your child, meet the teacher, ask questions, observe, and decide whether this appears to be the most appropriate placement for your child.

Do you participate in the Early Achievers program?

Yes! Washington Early Achievers is a voluntary program that:

  • Provides families with information about the quality of care through a 1 through 5 rating system. We are currently rated at Level 3.
  • Offers child care programs resources like coaching and training so they can support children’s learning and development.
  • Offers opportunities for Head Start and ECEAP to gain recognition for the high quality services they provide and to be leaders in supporting quality of services across settings by sharing resources and expertise with child care partners.
Do you have a playground?

Yes! We have a large fenced playground with a covered area for play during all weather situations.

What are your hours?

We are open Monday through Friday from 6:00am until 6:00pm.  We are closed weekends and most major holidays.

Do you serve meals?

Yes!  We participate in the USDA food program and serve nutritious meals and snacks.  We serve breakfast, morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack.  This is included in the cost of tuition.
